Hilda Ruth Skipper Ashe Hilda Ruth Skipper Ashe of Dothan, passed away early Monday morning, June 21, 2010 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. She was 88. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at Newton First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Andy Wood and Rev. Myrice McNab officiating. Burial will follow in Newton City Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street directing. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m. prior to service time on Tuesday. Mrs. Ashe was born on October 1, 1921 in Dale County and lived the early years of her life there. She moved to Dothan at an early age where she resided the remainder of her life. After retiring from retail sales, she volunteered with Dothan City Schools for over 15 years in the foster grandparent program. Mrs. Ashe enjoyed cooking for family and friends and was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was a member of Evangel Assembly of God Church in Dothan. Survivors include her children, Ronald Bullock (Debbie) of Boiling Springs, SC, Joel Bullock (Norma Jo) of El Paso, TX, Elaine Taylor (Farrest) of Dothan, Nita Pruett (Cody), Ft. Payne, AL; eleven grandchildren, Teresa Carlson (Scott), Pamela Norman, Justin Bullock, Todd Bullock (Tamara), Kevin Lynn Bullock (Sarah), Alan Hale (Dorothy), Steven Johnson, Madeline Johnson, Rachel Taylor, Hannah Taylor, Will Pruett (Kerry); nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Larry Skipper of Dothan; two sisters, Gladys Skipper of Dothan, Christine Wood (Burnice) of Frostproof, FL; numerous nieces and nephews and other family members.
