When we were all young, we used to play together in Floyd Ward's yard. Often we ate together and had many fun times. Jimmy
As a teenager I remember how handsome Jim was and how all the girls wanted to date him. Sara

We were so saddened to read that Dr. Herring had passed away. Our deepest sympathy is extended to all of his family.
We will always have the fondest memories of the kindness he extended to us whenever we brought our "Queenie" into his service. He provided excellent examples to our children on how to take care of our precious dog from her earliest days until she grew very old. He was a long-time partner in care.
While teaching in d'Iberville, Maryann valued his help and point of view as a parent. One telephone call in particular thanking her for a special lesson taught in his son's class has always been a treasured memory.
We will miss Jim and will keep his family in our prayers.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Herring family--your loss is shared by those whose lives Jim touched by his serving as a dedicated and compassionate veterinarian. I can remember sitting at a veterinary meeting that Jim was attending and marvelling at his intelligence, devotion and wisdom. I remember thinking that, when I reach Jim's age and years in practice, I will be doing OK if I could still be as interested in my profession, be as informed, resourceful and dedicated to my clients as Jim was to his.
He was a good Naval officer, veterinarian, husband, father, and friend who will be missed by those who knew him. God bless.

Words are not enough to express the deepest sorrow and regret, I have over Doc's passing. When we had a little private time November of 2006, he gave me a bit of advice that sounded exactly like my Dad. His words will always be with me for the rest of my days. Doc said,"Life is very short. And you need to learn to have a little fun and not be so serious. Things you do not understand will pass. When you learn to have a little fun is when you will find the promise of tomorrow. Once you find the fun in life, everything you want will begin to happen."
God Bless the Herring family and friends who may be reading this.

From 1989 until 2005, Dr. Herring cared for the abandoned animals that we adopted and brought into our home. He remembered their names whenever we took them to Dr. Herring. Many times we had to call Dr. Herring on a holiday or a weekend to treat an emergency for a sick or injured animal. He would meet us at his office, showing no sign that he had been inconvenienced. It would be routine for him to call and check on his "patients."
We will truly miss Dr. Herring. He was a gentle man who cared for the little creatures on the Coast. May the Herring family be comforted knowing that Dr. Herring left an impact on the families that trusted him with their pets.
