John W. Marks, Jr.

John Marks, Jr, age 52, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at a local hospital from medical complications. Private family services will be held at a later date.

John Wesley Marks, Jr, was born September 25, 1961 in Altus, Oklahoma to John and Jeanette (Lawrence) Marks, Sr. John's father was in the U.S. Air Force and the family moved to several bases around the world. John received his education at many different schools, but he graduated from Shelton, Washington High School in 1981. A few years after high school, John decided to try truck driving as a career. He began working for M.C.T. Trucking here in Sioux Falls. Medical problems force him to stop driving trucks, but John worked in other careers. John was employed as a cabinet maker for Showplace before having to quit because of his disabilities.

John will be fondly remembered as a very kind and gentle soul. Even though he never married, John enjoyed being around kids, especially his nieces and nephews. Some of John's best friends will tell you that he was the kind of person who would do anything for his friends, always there to lend a hand if they were in need. John's home had many Bibles and with verses highlighted that meant a lot to him.

Those grateful for having shared John's life include: his parents, John and Amy Marks, Sr of Lubbock, TX; sisters, Sheryl (John) Carlson of Shelton, WA, and Debra Marks of Houston, TX; brothers, Michael Marks of Wichita Falls, TX and Jamie Marks of Lubbock, TX; five nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. John is preceded in death by: his mother, Jeanette.
