JOHNNY OWENS Obituary

Johnny Jerry Owens Mr. Johnny Jerry Owens of Dothan went to be with his Heavenly Father Saturday, August 6, 2011, at his residence. He was 78. Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Tuesday, August 9, 2011, at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverends Raymond Holt and John D. Reese officiating. Burial will follow in Bluff Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 P.M. Monday, August 8, 2011.Flowers will be accepted. Mr. Owens was born June 6, 1933, in Newville, Alabama, the son of the late J.D. Morris and Maggie Owens. Mr. Owens retired from Unijax after 30+ years of service. He is preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen, parents, and a great-grandson, Hudson. Survivors include daughters, June Grooms, Brenda Owens, Patsy Carter and her husband, Tommy, son, Johnny Owens and Pam Tabor, six sisters, four brothers, six granddaughters, six grandsons, eight great-grandsons, four great-granddaughters, and very special friend and longtime sweetheart, Evelyn Morris Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons. My heart is saddend at the passing of such a good man, however he is in a better place today. Jerry was a brother in law to me and I loved him very much.
