LARRY SMITH Obituary

Larry Wayne Smith Larry Wayne Smith, a resident of County Road 348, Ozark, (Echo Community), died Friday morning, November 2, 2012, at his home. He was 67. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 P.M. Sunday, November 4, 2012, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Buddy Hood and Reverend Earl Brogden officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 3:30 P.M. Sunday at the mortuary. Mr. Smith was born and reared in the Camp Springs community of Henry County, son of the late Pate V. Smith and Annie Mae Lee Smith. He lived in Wicksburg thirty-two years before moving to the Echo community in 2008. Mr. Smith was a retired employee of Perdue Farms, Inc., and also was formerly employed by Kingsford Manufacturing Co., both of Dothan. He was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by two sisters, Carolyn Glass and Glenda Manasco and a brother, Billy Frank Smith. Surviving relatives include two sons, Larry Dewayne Smith and wife, Dalinda, Echo community; Corey Allen Smith and wife, Jennifer, Dothan; two sisters, Betty Benefield and husband, John, Abbeville; Janice Oliver, Dothan; six grandchildren, Pate Smith, Carlos Smith, Bianca Smith, Miranda Smith, Katelyn Smith and Meredith Smith; several nieces and nephews. Serving as active pallbearers will be Pate Smith, Carlos Smith, Kennon Casey, Blake Gulledge, Charles Gilmore, Dean Stansell, Edward Houck and Scott Speed. The family would like to express their appreciation to Gentiva Hospice for the loving care and kindness shown to Mr. Smith during his illness.
