Virginia Glanton Gavin Obituary

Virginia Glanton Gavin, a resident of Seat Pleasant, Md., and Earth's angel, quietly returned home to her heavenly Father on May 18, 2009. She was 46.

Funeral services are at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 29, 2009, at Beltway, C.O.G.I.C., Camp Springs, Md. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.

Scott's Chapel Hill Mortuary will be in charge of the memorial service to be held in Dothan.

Mrs. Gavin was a native of Dothan. As a youth, she was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church, Dothan, where she was active in the Sunday School department as a leader and teacher, a member of the Youth Fellowship, Youth Choir, and various church departments. She later joined Greater Beulah Baptist Church, Dothan, as an adult, where she was a productive member.

Mrs. Gavin was preceded in death by her sister, Venese M. Glanton.

Mrs. Gavin is survived by her husband, Michael Gavin, Seat Pleasant, Md.; three sons, Justin, Jayde, and Darian Gavin, Seat Pleasant, Md.; her parents, Herbert A. and Geraline Cain Glanton, Dothan; mother-in-law, Hattie Lee Gavin, Seat Pleasant, Md.; brother, Herbert A. Glanton Jr. Dothan; brother-in-laws, John Wesley and Leonard Jr. Gavin, Seat Pleasant, Md.; sister-in-laws, Patricia Ann, Cecile, Monica, and Teresa Gavin, Seat Pleasant, Md.; aunts and uncles, Camilla Edwards, Detroit, Edgardine (Joseph) Ware, Gary, Ind., Loretta Fourney, Cincinnati, Ohio, Jessie Cain, Detroit, Daisy (James) Kinney, Dothan, John Glanton Jr., Dothan, and James (Laura) Cain, Wetumpka; granddaughter, Camilla Gavin, Seat Pleasant, Md.; two dear sister-friends, Tammy C. Stephens and Shalunda D. Wimes, Dothan; and a host of relatives and friends.
