Walter Joseph Mycroft, Jr. Walter Joseph Mycroft, Jr., a resident of Dothan, died Wednesday, February 5, 2014, in a Dothan hospital. He was 87. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 7, 2014, in the Ward - Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ruth Jones and Mr. Alan Weber officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Wiregrass Club, 107 N. Herring St., Dothan, AL 36301. Walter was born January 1, 1927 in Providence, RI and came to the Dothan area about thirty one years ago, where he met and married his "beloved southern belle bride", Annette. He was a fireman in Rhode Island and retired in Tampa, FL as a salesman for Florida Seal & Rubber. As a loyal friend of Bill W., he dedicated forty one years of his life to helping others. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter J. Mycroft, Sr, and Mary Kiernan, a step-son, Jim Whiddon, step-grandson, Adam Whiddon, a siser, Jane Ragen and sister, Claire Curry. Surviving relatives include his loving wife, Annette Brooks Mycroft, sons, Walter J. Mycroft, III and wife, Debbie and Robert A. Mycroft; daughters, Maur-een F. Elkins and Linda M. Zabbo and husband, Louis; step-son, Kent Whiddon and wife, Rhonda; fourteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
