Glenda Ann DiPietro Black, age 80, of Baltimore, Maryland, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Charter Senior Living in Falmouth, Virginia. She was just two weeks shy of her 81st birthday.
She is survived by her daughter, Renee Richardson, and her husband, Ken, of Chesapeake, VA; son, Richard Black, and his partner, Kristen Popp, of Falls Church, VA; cherished grandchildren, Kelsey, Rhys, Kegan Richardson, and Anna Black; sister, Elaine Orbino and her husband, Joe; brother, Ron DiPietro; along with several cousins, nieces, and a nephew. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Charles "Tip" DiPietro and Esther DiPietro.
After graduating from Dundalk High School in 1962, Glenda worked for several years at NSA before becoming a homemaker and stay-at-home mom. She later returned to work as the manager of a fine jewelry department prior to her retirement. One of her passions throughout her life was cooking - her spaghetti and meatballs were legendary, and her cheesecakes and strawberry pies became staples at Harford County restaurants. She enjoyed preparing and sharing family recipes with her grandchildren, ensuring her culinary traditions would continue for generations.
Travel was another joy in Glenda's life. From early adventures with her girlfriends to extensive world travels through Europe, Asia, the Caribbean, the Americas, and parts of Africa with family, Glenda embraced the richness of new cultures and experiences. Still, her proudest roles were those of devoted daughter, loving mother, and doting grandmother.
After retirement, she cared lovingly for her mother, Esther, for many years. In her later life, Glenda found joy in weekly Scrabble games with lifelong friends and in sharing family history, stories, and traditions with her children and grandchildren.
A private viewing for the family was held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg, VA. A Celebration of Life will take place during the holiday season in Baltimore, MD, where Glenda lived most of her life. She will be laid to rest alongside her beloved parents in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
