On November 25, 2021, Mary Loretta Hobson (nee Marshall), beloved wife of the late Donald R. Hobson; devoted mother of Donna Ellick and her husband Edward, Karen Loewenberg and her husband Howard, Teresa Capirichio and her husband Josh and Donald Hobson and his wife Tammy; loving grandmother of Kristin Wydra and her husband Tom, Brent Ellick and his wife Vicki, Cory Grossman and his wife Stephanie, Jonathan Loewenberg and his wife Maggie, Kayla Clark and her husband Chris, and Zachary Loewenberg; cherished great grandmother of Aubree, Austin and Aria Wydra, along with Palmer and Weston Grossman; dear sister of the late Carol Hartlove-Everd and sister-in-law of Raymond Donald Hobson and Robert Raymond Hobson. Mary was 81 years old and passed after a courageous battle with progressively debilitating congestive heart failure.

Mary was the matriarch of a loving and caring family that was blessed with most of its members still living in the greater Baltimore area and being able to convene for special events and holidays. Her pride and joy were the grandchildren around her, a vibrant and fun-loving group, a few of which recently blessed her with great grandchildren for which she was energized by their presence even more so. Beyond her family, Mary maintained a number of simple pleasures, including trips to Ocean City, Maryland where she could hang out on an oceanfront condo's balcony listening to the Atlantic's waves hitting the shore and occasionally spot a school of dolphins; a fierce Rummy 500 match against her family with a princely $10 per person at stake; playing the daily evening lottery pick 3 with her grandchildren's birthdates paying off fewer times than she would have liked; a seasonal trip to the casino to hammer the slot machines for winnings to be used for such grandchildren's birthday and Xmas gifts; pounding on some Maryland Crabs (with the Old Bay washed off of those of course); and devout viewership of the Orioles and Ravens regardless of the success those teams enjoyed on the field.
