Jose Alarcon Obituary

Jose Ricardo Alarcon
January 23, 1948 - May 19, 2025
Jose Ricardo Alarcon, lovingly known as "Richard," entered peacefully into eternal rest on May 19, 2025, in Orcutt, Calif., after his courageous battle with cancer. He was 77. A resident of Safford, Ariz., for the past 30 years, Jose was interred with military honors in Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park in Phoenix, Ariz.
Born Jan. 23, 1948, in Fabens, Texas, to Jose Gustavo Alarcon and Victoria Carbajal Alarcon, Jose was raised in San Elizario, Texas. He proudly served his country as a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he fulfilled a career with Southern Pacific Railroad.
Jose had a deep passion for training, caring for, and raising racehorses. He loved competing on the racetrack with his horses. It brought him immense joy throughout his life.
Jose is survived by Glyna French Alarcon and his four children: daughter Victoria F. Alarcon and sons Richard J. Alarcon, Samuell French, and Matthew Alarcon. He is also survived by brothers Eduardo (Eddie) Alarcon and Carlos (Charlie) Alarcon, and by sisters Carol Rivera, Patricia Avila, and Elinora (Nora) Aguilar. He was preceded in death by brother Daniel (Danny) Alarcon. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and by numerous nieces and nephews.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all others whose lives he touched.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, at the American Legion Swift Murphy Post 32, 531 S. 11th Ave., Safford. Dinner will be served.
