Christine Lane Obituary

Christine Conrad Lane, 49, of Barrington, R.I., passed away suddenly on Jan. 29, 2025, alongside her son, Spencer Seojin Lane, who was also lost that day. Christine was a modern maker whose many creative talents defied categorization and touched many. She was also a devoted wife and mother who brought the same drive and creativity to everyday family life.

Christine is survived by her husband, Doug Lane, and son, Milo Lane, of Barrington, R.I.; her parents, Wayne and Karen Conrad of Easton, Pa.; and her sister, Kathleen Wolfanger of Manlius, N.Y. Christine will also be greatly missed by her adoring extended family, including her brother-in-law, Jason Wolfanger, and nephews Cody, Hunter, and Logan Wolfanger of Manlius, N.Y.; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul and Constance Lane of Fairhaven, Mass.; and sister-in-law, Amanda Lane, and nephews, Leander and Felix Knasin of Canton, Mass. A passionate, lifelong lover of animals, Christine is also survived by her beloved dogs, Harley and Charlee, and her hedgehog, Bobbin.

Born on Long Island, N.Y., Christine relocated with her family at a young age to Cranford, N.J., where she spent her early life surrounded by a tight-knit community of friends and neighbors with whom she remained close throughout her life. After progressing through the Cranford schools as the straight-A, goodie-two-shoes everyone envied, she went on to attend Syracuse University, where she forged irreplaceable friendships and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communications Design. During these years, she also navigated the trauma of multiple brain tumor health crises with inspiring grace and resilience.

Soon after college, Christine relocated to Boston, Mass., where she worked as a graphic designer for blue-chip advertising agencies TFA/Leo Burnett Technology Group and Hill Holliday. Her award-winning creative work was featured in multi-million-dollar advertising campaigns for Dunkin' Donuts, John Hancock, and other globally recognized brands.

It was also during her time in Boston that Christine met her husband, Doug. After marrying in 2003, the couple embarked on an international adoption journey together, welcoming Spencer to their family in 2009 and Milo in 2014.

As she transitioned into motherhood, her creative pursuits also diversified and blossomed. These creative chapters are too many to list, but her photography, quilting, knitting, and home decor talents brought particular joy to everyone in her life. She also directed her love of animals into volunteer efforts with Rhode Home Rescue, helping place countless dogs into loving adoptive families.

In late 2024, Christine began a new professional chapter by earning her real estate license. She joined Residential Properties in Barrington, R.I., as a sales agent in January 2025 and became a valued colleague in her short time with the firm.

A celebration of life will be held for Christine and Spencer on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at Veterans Memorial Auditorium ("The VETS"), One Avenue of the Arts, Providence, RI 02903, at 2 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to dress comfortably and colorfully, as Christine loved bright colors and Spencer frequently and vocally expressed his disdain for formal dress.

In lieu of flowers or monetary donations, the family asks that you subscribe to their email newsletter at douglane.com, where they will share remembrances and photos and discuss future plans to build a lasting legacy for Christine and Spencer.

I am so sorry for your family's loss. I was Milo's bus driver for elementary school. And I would see Christine at the bus stop everyday. She was always such a pleasure to see and talk to. I remember when she got her iridescent jacket ( I love iridescents) and complimented hers. She was so happy. I still have a little gift bag that she made me out of fabric. It's one of my cherished gifts. My heart goes out to you and Milo ( I love that kid!). I never got the honor of meeting Spencer, but he seems like a very special person. May they both rest in peace.

My heart is broken for the family and the loss of two beautiful souls. I can see Christine´s bright smile and beautiful personality as a young girl growing up next door to us. And meeting Spencer, for the first time, on a beautiful sunny day in our joining yards. A terrible tragedy that has fallen on this wonderful family. My prayers and deepest condolences are with all of you.

Sending my heartfelt condolence to Christine & Spencer... May their beautiful spirit continue to live forever looking down from above. Christine seems such a wonderful and loving mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend. Spencer seems such free spirit, cheerful, sweet, amazing son. Will be praying for both of them. Rest peacefully in Heaven
