Christopher Brayton Obituary

Christopher E. Brayton was born in 1948 to Shirley and Walter Brayton and raised in Foster, R.I. He passed away September 2025 at home in Warren, R.I. He attended URI, with a focus on theater that continued as an adult.

After working various jobs, including the Ladd School, he became a carpenter. He enjoyed a long career as a historic home restorer, working with Lombard Pozzi in the East Bay on well-known properties such as Linden Place in Bristol, the Maxwell House in Warren and overseeing the restoration of the Colt State Park bulls at the entrance.

In South Kingstown he built his family home by dismantling a 1700s era home in Lincoln to provide the beams. Later in life, he meticulously restored the historic Hill-Collins house (c.1791) that he resided in for many years in Warren.

A lifelong learner, he enjoyed building and restoring bicycles, old cars, and an antique trolley car. Riding his handmade recumbent bike on the East Bay Bike Path was a favorite activity. In the last 12 years of his life, living with his wife Marcia Goodrum in Warren, they designed and built a school bus RV together and shared a love of bike riding and gardening.

He also leaves children Elise, Alexis and Sean, grandchildren Shealin, Macy, and Paige, plus brothers Andrew, Jeff and brother-in-law Matt, and their children, Caleb, Lily and Nicky. His parents, sister Deborah and his stepfather Richard St. Germain pre-deceased him. He was laid to rest in a green memorial park on Prudence Island, Portsmouth, R.I.
