Emilie Dickey

Emilie Brace Dickey of Marshfield was born October 18, 1929, to William Henry and Gladys (Owen) Kiekhofer in Madison, Wisconsin. She departed this life May 7, 2025, in Elfindale Manor, Springfield, Missouri, at 03:27 a.m., at the age of 95 years. Emilie graduated from West High School in Madison, Wisconsin in 1946. She graduated from Smith College in 1950. In 1952 she graduated from the University of Wisconsin with her master's in European history. She also attended Columbia University and graduated with her master's degree in education. She worked for ten years as a researcher, paralegal and teacher before becoming a full-time wife and mother. She loved spending her free time reading and traveling, especially in Europe. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at their summer home in Rhode Island. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 57 years, John Wallis Dickey; her brother, William Henry Owen Kiekhofer; and her sister-in-law, Emily Kiekhofer. She is survived by two children, Elizabeth Blaine Dickey of Chicago, Illinois, Charles Wallis Dickey of Jefferson, Wisconsin; one step-son, Stephen John Dickey and Cynthia of Pasadena, CA; three step-grandchildren, Sarah Helen Condomitti and Daniel, Thomas Steffens Dickey, John Ferrer Dickey; two step-great grandchildren, Jeremy Phillip Condomitti, Dylan James Condomitti; three nieces and one nephew, Emily Jane Lockrem of San Jose, California, William Henry Kiekhofer, III of Claremont, California, Susan Graham Belshe of Providence, Rhode Island, Margaret Anne Gray of Swansea, Massachusetts; and several great-nieces and nephews. Memorial services were Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., in Marshfield United Methodist Church under the direction of Fraker Funeral Home, Inc. Interment was in Marshfield Cemetery. The family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff of the Manor at Elfindale and Hospice Compassus for the wonderful care they gave Emilie for so many years.
