John Raposa Obituary

John J. Raposa, Jr., 90, of Oviedo, Fla., and formerly of Warren, passed away on Dec. 31, 2022.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 65 years, Barbara (Almeida) Raposa. He is also survived by his daughter, Donna Byers, of Oviedo, Fla., his granddaughter, Stephanie (Andrew) Giacona, of Moorseville, N.C., his daughter-in-law, Kathleen Raposa, of Warren, RI, and his brother Paul (Kathy), of Riverside, RI. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is pre-deceased by his parents, John Sr., and Mary (Santos) Raposa, his son, Dennis, a sister, Veronica Brelsford, and nephew, Kevin Brelsford, all of Rhode Island.

John was born in Rhode Island and educated in Fall River, Mass. He served in the Army during the Korean War.

An accomplished musician, John was the organist at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Warren for 50 years. He also performed with his own orchestra, The Celebrities, for 25 years.

John retired as a draftsman in 2002 and traveled throughout the United States with his wife in their motor home. They also enjoyed cruising on the open waters. John and Barbara moved to Oviedo, Fla. in 2005 to spend time with their daughter and granddaughter. He was an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan.

Burial will be private.
