Mary Leite

Mary Leite, 73, of Fox Point, Providence, RI passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025 in her own home, surrounded by her loving family.



Born in Povoacao, Sao Miguel, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Maria (Medeiros) Leite. Mary grew up in Fox Point, Providence, RI and lived in Richmond, VA, Des Moines, IA and Randolph, MA before returning to Fox Point.



Mary was a Grant Manager for Codman Square Health Center in Dorchester, MA for 5 years before she retired. She was a graduate of University of Rhode Island and received her Master's Degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. She loved traveling, gardening and reading. She belonged to various clubs & organizations, including the American Civil Liberties Union, Planned Parenthood and League of Women Voters of Rhode Island. She was a very active member of her community and will always be remembered as a very caring, well know and well loved person.



Above all else, her family was very important to her. She leaves one nephew, Thomas Leite, and two nieces, Melanie Vargas and her husband, David; Danielle Amorim and her husband, Richard; and eight great-nieces and nephews, Lawrence, Michelle, Juliana, Andrew, Zachary, Gabriella Vargas; Sophia and Anthony Amorim. She was the sister of the late Anthony A. Leite and Joseph Leite.



Her funeral service will be private.
