Raymond Tkacs Obituary

Riverside | Raymond Roy Tkacs,80, known affectionately as Ray to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 8, 2025, in Rhode Island. Born on June 28, 1944, in Providence, Rhode Island, Ray was a man who carried the torch of his family's legacy with pride and dedication.

The son of the late Steven R. and Ellen (Baxter)Tkacs, Ray was a pillar of strength and kindness, embodying the values instilled in him from a young age. Ray is preceded in death by his brother Steven R. Tkacs, and partner Norma Capron, with whom he shared a many lasting memories.

Raymond is survived by his two daughters, Christine Pacheco and Beth Becotte, their husbands Daniel Pacheco and Bryan Becotte, his grandchildren, Alyshia, Brenna, Dominick, Brady, Barrett and his great granddaughter Alexia, Step children, Renee C. Yehle and William Capron, along with their families. Each of them held a special place in his heart, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

For over six decades, Ray poured his passion into Tkacs Auto Upholstery in East Providence, the third generation to operate the family-owned business. His dedication to his work was unparalleled, and he became a respected figure in the community, known for his craftsmanship and the personal touch he brought to every project. The business was more than a livelihood for Ray; it was his whole life, a place where he not only honed his skills but also enjoyed time with lifelong friends.

An East Providence resident throughout his life, Ray's roots ran deep in the community he loved. He was not only a familiar face in the local business scene but also a friend to many. His interests extended beyond the walls of his workshop. Ray found joy in playing golf and traveling, and outings with friends and family.

Those who knew Ray would describe him as witty and helpful. His hands were skilled and capable, a testament to his ability to fix, create, and bring beauty to the objects and spaces around him. Above all, Rays generosity and thoughtfulness touched so many lives.

Ray's legacy is one of love, hard work, and commitment to the things that matter most in life: family, community, and the pursuit of one's passions. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

As we say goodbye to Raymond Roy Tkacs, we celebrate the life of a man who was so much to so many.

To Ray's Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I am just seeing that Ray passed recently. I was a longtime customer of the upholstery shop and always enjoyed chatting it up with Ray about my projects. He was always fair, honest and produced excellent work. Please rest easy Ray - get your upholstery shop in order up in heaven and I'll see you soon!

My name is Alex Castergini and I met Ray when I first started working at Tasca Lincoln-Mercury way back in 1975. I used to bring him a lot of work from the dealership, we hit it off really well and so fast. He became a good friend and we would play golf together every year in the Riverside open that took place on Cape Cod. And maybe a drink here or there, he was such a fun, great great man to be around, they just don´t make people like that anymore, he truly was the best. As I write the story, I am sitting on a sofa in my home that he fixed for me about five years ago, and would not take a cent, and I think about him every time I sit on it, and I will never forget him. I can go on and on and on, and I know the people that will read this will feel the exact same way. So for now my good friend Ray it´s time to say goodbye and hit them straight, and RIP AC
