A beautiful soul has passed...|Vivian Irene (Beauvais) Lacy, 96, of
Little Compton, RI, and Pompano Beach, FL, passed peacefully on August 1, 2025, at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River, surrounded by her loving children. Born on April 26, 1929, in Central Falls, RI, to Irene and Adelard Beauvais, she grew up in Pawtucket and was a graduate of East High School. Vivian lived a long and beautiful life, devoted to family, faith, and simple joys.
She was predeceased by her devoted husband, James Daniel Lacy, on January 27, 1986. They met on a blind date when she was just 18. She was also predeceased by her dear sister, Joan (Jeanne) Shabbott, and her cherished daughter-in-law, Georgina Lacy.
Vivian leaves behind her beloved "4 K's": Kevin (the late Georgina), Keri Hetland (partner Joel), Kelly Marks (John), and Keith (Tracey); her younger sister, Doris Heatherton of Anaheim, CA; and her treasured grandchildren, Kim (Rory), Lauren, Ashley (Wade), Kelsey (Chris), Nicholas (partner Lauren), Zachary, McCory, Brandon, and Audrey. She was the proud great-grandmother of Emmett and Clara, and her namesake, Rory Vivian, who dearly loved her "Big Nana."
Vivian's happy place was always by the shore-whether at South Shore Beach in Little Compton, which was especially dear to her heart, or in Pompano Beach, FL. Her days were filled with beach time, close friends, family, and her trademark fancy bathing caps with matching suits. Known for her warm smile, readiness to "get up and go," sparkling conversation, brilliant white hair, and stylish outfits (shoes and pocketbook always coordinated!), she brightened every room she entered.
A devoted homemaker, she was organized, methodical, and a wonderful cook. After her youngest entered school, she worked "mother's hours" in the jewelry industry, later joining the school lunch program-a perfect three hours a day with summers free-allowing her to spend precious time with her family.
Vivian had a sweet tooth and a plaque that summed her up perfectly: "I could give up chocolate, but I'm not a quitter." A quitter she was not. She faced life's trials with quiet, admirable strength, buoyed by her faith. She enjoyed a daily happy hour-one glass of Pinot Grigio, no more, no less-and spent the Covid years and beyond mastering puzzles, often with two in progress on the dining room table for guests to join in. She read stacks of books from the "little libraries" and book sales around town, and cherished the company of her children-saying often it was all she needed.
Her family feels truly blessed to have had her in their lives for so long. Mom left us beautiful memories; her love will always guide us. Though unseen, she is forever at our side. Our hearts will always remember the countless times her love and devotion made all the difference.
A private funeral Mass and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Little Compton Community Center Senior Lunch Program, whose Monday, Wednesday, and Friday visits and warm meals were something Mom always looked forward to. Gifts in her honor may be made at
