Audrey Louise Spaulding

Audrey Louise Spaulding Resident of Alameda Audrey Louise Spaulding (Heseman), age 85, passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 3, 2009. Audrey was born on May 2, 1924 in Oakland, Nebraska to Louis and Gladys Heseman. Her family migrated to California, living first in Turlock and then settling in Alameda. In her youth, she was an accomplished softball pitcher. At her peak, she played professionally in Chicago. Audrey worked as a Park Director in Alameda and particularly at Washington Park. In later years, she worked with young children at the Woodstock Child Development Center. She derived great joy by serving the youth of Alameda. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard Spaulding, and sister, Jean Bassett. She is survived by her sister Colonel Virginia Heseman (U.S. Army, retired), daughter Keri Spaulding and son-in-law Brian R. McDonald, son Steven Spaulding and daughter-in-law Mary Ellen Proctor, grandsons Cameron and Kyle Spaulding, nieces Deanna Johe, Lynette Mladinich and Susan Terrill, nephew Conrad Bassett, and many members of their extended families. The family is blessed to know that Audrey touched many lives and gave so much to others. Her remains will be interred with her husband at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, California. Friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of her life and reception on Wednesday, December 16th, 2009, 11:00 a.m., Alameda Elks Lodge, 2255 Santa Clara Avenue, Alameda.
