Bette Ann Johnson was born on February 15, 1926 in Litchfield MN. The daughter of Ernest E and Ida (Studer) Heglund. Bette grew up in Minnesota with her 3 siblings. She attended one year of College at Macalester College where she studied Interior Design in Minneapolis MN. She then switched to Minnesota Business College where she majored in Accounting. She worked for ten years at large insurance company in the accounting department as the Assistant Manager.
She wanted to spread here wings and travel so she moved out to California in 1955. She worked for ten years as a Sales Representative for TWA Airlines. On January 9, 1960 Bette married Lewis Arthur Johnson JR. They were married for 60 years. They made their home in Alameda California where they lived for the past 65 years. They were fortunate to travel the world for 7 years before starting their family. Bette was a devoted loving mother to her daughters Missy and Mary.
Bette passed away peacefully on December 12, 2020. She was 94 years young.
Bette was a busy lady. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Berkeley where she met her husband. She enjoyed riding her bike, gardening, taking pictures of all events and milestones. She volunteered for many activities including campfire girls, PTA in Alameda and for the Church. Bette's faith in the lord was very important to her. She always enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, friends and family.
Surviving Family includes- Husband -Lewis Arthur Johnson JR- Daughters -Melissa Flores ( Dan). Mary Johnson. Grandchildren – Nicole Sutherland (Lonnie Tillett), Tristan (Brittany)Flores Jory great grandson . Albino and Florencia Flores and many nieces and nephews. – Preceded in death Parents Ernest and Ida Heglund. In laws – Lewis Arthur and Eleanor Johnson. Sister Marvel (Al) Benson, Brother Bud ( Maxine) Heglund, Sister Dory (Butch) Richter. Grandson Jordan Flores.
The family of Bette would like to thank the many people that have reached out. Mom touched so many people. She will be missed deeply. A memorial service will be at a later date. Bette will be laid to rest in the Garden of Gentleness, located at the Chapel of the Chimes in
Oakland, California.
