Brooks Baldwin Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Brooks Baldwin. Born and raised in Glendale California, Brooks was a graduate of UCLA, majoring in Finance and Accounting. He was also a member of Theta XI Fraternity. He joined the Navy in 1956, serving on the USS Gurke, where in later years the annual Gurke reunions became a yearly highlight. Upon completion of his duty in the Navy, Brooks joined Bank of America in their International Banking Operations. He and his family lived in London, Vienna, Singapore and Manila before returning to San Francisco. He began his Real Estate Career in 1976 with Wallace/Anderson Realtors. He was on the Contra Costa Board of Realtors in various capacities, serving as Board President in 1988. Retirement years found he and his wife Kay traveling extensively throughout our country. Brooks was an avid Gardener, enjoyed sharing his wine cellar with Friends, and volunteered as a docent on board the USS Hornet as well as with the East Bay Parks Service. Brooks was predeceased by his sons Brett and Brad. He is survived by his wife Kay of 66 years, his daughter Jody, son-in-law Olaf and his granddaughters Alena and Sonja. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, February 4th at 2pm at the Hillcrest Congregational Church, 404 Gregory Lane, Pleasant Hill, CA.

I am sorry for your loss. I served as a Docent with him on the Hornet and we were both on the Docent council. He was related to Colin Armstrong who I flew as his wingman in VA-155 off the USS Hancock. Colin was the Division Leader to Ken Otten, Dud Hoover and me. I do not drive far anymore so I will not be at the service. My thoughts and prayers go to you.
