Bruce left this life while snorkeling in Maui. Living life to the very end, doing something he enjoyed. Family and friends are in disbelief that this healthy, generous man was taken from us when he had so many more plans for mission trips, family travel and woodworking.
Bruce is survived by his soul mate and wife, Linda; step-children, Lauri Taylor (Karen), Jay Fodrini, Michele Johnson, former daughter-in-law, Kristin Fodrini. Also, five grandchildren; Spencer Wilkens, Lyndsy Nichols, Julia Wilkens, Justin Fodrini and August Johnson. He is also survived by his brother, Van Johnson (Kathy) and Sister, Sheila Gaalswyk (Richard) plus five nieces and 2 nephews. And of course his much loved Springer Spaniels, Keely and Charlie.
He was born in St. James, Minnesota and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Engineering. He lived in several states before coming to California where he graduated with a MBA from Hass Business School at the University of California, Berkeley. In 1986 he returned to the Bay Area and with his wife, Linda, owned and managed Eldercare Services for thirty years. Bruce retired in 2019 to work on community service projects through both the Rotary Club of Walnut Creek and his church, LOPC. He went on more than 25 week long mission trips both international, out of state and in our community. The framework for his entire being came from being an "Eagle Scout"; his faith in Jesus Christ and his work in Rotary with a moto of "Service Above Self".
A memorial service will be held for Bruce Johnson on March 19, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Lafayette Orinda Presbyterian Church, 49 Knox Drive in Lafayette.
Bruce would want most for you to volunteer for a non-profit that works to end homelessness, food insecurity, or builds houses with an organization like Habitat for Humanity. If you would like to make a donation in his memory, they can be sent in his name to the Rotary Club of Walnut Creek or Lafayette Orinda Presbyterian Church.
