Charles Manley Obituary

CHARLES F. MANLEY JR. A native of Alameda, California. Charles was born in 1921 to Charles Sr., and Emma Pola Manley. The Manley and Pola families were pioneers of Alameda and San Francisco. He served as hospital corpsman in the Navy and Marines in five major campaigns in the South Pacific in WWII. After the war, Charles was employed as an x-ray technician at several bay area hospitals, then in medical x-ray sales, before founding his own successful company in 1973, retiring in 1981. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Alice M. Manley; his children, Phillip (Patricia) of Campbell, California, Susan (Larry) Quezada of San Jose, California, Peter (Sandra Black) of Wisconsin, Paul (Camille), and David (Ginger), of San Jose. He was patriarch to generations of Californians; grandchildren, Nick (Robyn) Manley, Mary (Paul) Mashburn, Christina (Lyle Hopper) Quezada, Jennifer (Beau) Rahn, Saul (Monica) Manley, Kathleen, Marianne, Joseph, Sean, Valerie, Vanessa, Josh, Jake, Jason, and Jessica Manley; great-grandchildren, Aidan, Brandon, Madison, Morgan, Sarah, Bryan, B.J., Tyler, Brody, and Kira, with more on the way as you read this. A memorial service will be held at the We and Our Neighbors building at 15480 Union Ave., San Jose, Sunday, December 3, at 1:00. Alice requests donations to Hospice of the Valley, San Jose, or the Yosemite Fund, San Francisco. Arrangements by: Byrgan & Company of Los Gatos
