It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Colin Jude Klausner, who left this earth much too soon on May 19, 2012 due to heart failure. He was born May 9, 1977 in Oakland CA to Karl and Maureen (Wingfield) Klausner, and attended Our Lady of Grace Elementary, Bishop O'Dowd High School and Cal State Hayward. Colin's first interest in the culinary arts began while working in Denali National Park (Alaska), and he soon began the culinary program at Diablo Valley College. His culinary career began at McCovey's restaurant in Walnut Creek, and he helped launch the new Center Court with C-Webb restaurant in Sacramento as Executive Chef. Colin's career with Wente Family Estates began in 2009, where his many talents led to becoming Executive Sous Chef in the Events Catering Center.
Through memories, stories and laughter Colin will live on as a loving son and brother, a favorite uncle and cousin, a loyal friend and a favored companion in any setting. His great smile, observant eye, quick wit, and an irreverent sense of humor made life enjoyable for all. A lifelong love of reading resulted in his encyclopedic knowledge and a vocabulary that would have challenged Noah Webster!
He is survived by his parents Karl Maureen Klausner, sister Meredith Westlund and her husband Jon, nieces Ellie Delaney Westlund, grandmother Irene Wingfield and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
In his memory donations may be made to the Dorothy C. Klausner Reading Scholarship @ CSUF Philanthropic Foundation, 2600 Nutwood #850, Fullerton, CA 92831 or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

Colin and I pledged the Fraternity together at Cal State Hayward and lived in Castro Valley when we were younger. He was always reading a book and listening to great music. I am very sad and shocked that this happened. My condolences to Colin's family

Colin and I hung out practically everyday in 95-96 at Cal State Hayward when we were going to school together. I also worked with him for a summer at San Leandro Radiator. For a short time, we even played in a band together. I still have a lot of fond memories of the time we spent together and I'm saddened to learn that he has gone far too early. My condolences to the Klausners and all of his family and friends that were fortunate to know him.

For one so young, he had already contributed so much as a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend. No surprise given the wonderful family in which he was raised. Our hearts ache for you, Maureen and Karl. May time ease your pain and may wonderful memories bring you comfort. We love you.

I want to thank the entire Klausner family along with Wente for such an amazing service. Colin was a dear friend to me for many years.We did spend many hours in Sacramento opening up Center Court! I was training bar as he was kitchen "klaus" as I liked to call him. I know how much he loved his family! Wonderful Man.....Colin Klausner

the first memory I have of colin he must have heen all of 3 or 4 years old. I tied his shoes for him...but I put the wrong shoes on the wrong feet...he was my little cousin and I miss him so much.
