Constance Wadsworth Obituary

Connie Wadsworth, 85, of Diablo and Pleasanton, CA, passed away Tuesday night March 21, 2023.She joins her dearly departed mother, father, her sister Jennie Marie and her beloved husband Alan. She leaves behind loved ones who will remember her as a generous, caring and devoted mother and grandmother.Connie was born on August 7, 1937 in Hartford, Connecticut to Ida Marie and Clifford Stewart Strike. She attended the Oxford School, where she was encouraged to be an honor roll student and eventually student body president, both of which she achieved. She graduated from Vassar College in 1959 with a Bachelor of Arts in History. After graduation, rather than joining her girlfriends in New York City, she ventured to San Francisco where she worked in the financial district and where she was eventually introduced to her future husband, Alan Graham Wadsworth. Connie and Alan were married in June 1963 and celebrated 54 years together before Alan's death in October 2017. In 1967 they moved from their home in Mill Valley to Diablo, where they lived until 2014. They were fortunate in having three wonderful children, Graham (Kate), Anne (Tim Seiler) and Stewart (Dr. Kim Ha Wadsworth) and five "perfect" grandchildren: Derek, Laura and Evan Wadsworth and Allison and Craig Seiler. Through the years, Connie used her financial skills as treasurer of several volunteer organizations. She was also President of the Green Valley Elementary School PTA, the San Ramon Valley (SRV) Swim Team, Danville Congregational Church (DCC), and the Max and Marion Caldwell Foundation, which raises funds to sponsor less fortunate children to go to camps throughout northern California. Connie especially cherished her time with the Caldwell family and time spent at Kennolyn Camps in the beautiful Santa Cruz Mountains. What began with a job application for Alan in 1966 led to many summers for both of them working at the camp. When their children were young, Connie was the Program Director at High Camp and Family Camp. Through the years, Connie and Alan shared Kennolyn Camp with friends near and far, and no doubt changed the lives of many young people. The redwood groves of the Santa Cruz mountains hold a very special place in the hearts of the Wadsworth family. Connie made and kept in touch with friends all throughout her life, whether childhood friends or friends made during her years working with the Caldwell family at Kennolyn Camp, volunteering at her childrens' schools and swim meets and from being an active member of the DCC since 1977. She was also a member of the Junior League since 1960 and sold Doncaster clothing from her home in Diablo for 40 years. Her children and grandchildren are grateful for the love and kindness shown by her many friends, especially friends from Vassar, Danville Congregational Church, Kennolyn Camps, SRV swim team, and Stoneridge Creek.A celebration of Connie's life is planned for April 29th, at 1pm at the Danville Congregational Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to a cause close to Connie's heart: the DCC Endowment Fund at 989 San Ramon Valley Blvd., Danville, CA 94526; the Caldwell Foundation at P.O. Box 1653, Capitola, CA 95010; or Hope Hospice at 6377 Clark Avenue, Suite 100, Dublin, CA 94568.

Our sympathies...missed Connie's Christmas card the last couple years, so I went looking for her. We enjoyed our time with Connie and Alan every year pressing pomegranate jelly. We miss our annual potlucks and pressing! Missing you both!

The Maynard family thinks about Connie often as we have Connie“s special coffee cake recipe and make it for every holiday. It has become a very cherished tradition in our family. Connie and Alan were very special friends to Ilo and Glenn Maynard throughout the years.

Although I met Connie late in life, she was such a joy to be around. I regret not having the opportunity to have spent more time with her and Alan.
