Dear Frederick family,

Dave was an exemplary human being. I have been associated with Troop 6 since 1991 and Dave was at numerous T6 functions (annual dinners, 75th reunion, and Utica). Dave epitomized and lived by the Scout oath and law. He was a great role model for all who knew him and a kind, gentle, warm, funny, and witty person. Dave was always there with a helping hand. When I think of Dave at Utica, he will be in his orange hard-hat, neckerchief, and a smile on his face. Daniel, Jeff, Vivian, and I send our warmest wishes during this difficult time.

I am shocked and saddened by the news of Dave's passing.

As a Boy Scout in Troop Six, Dave was a genial, kind leader who immediately took a shine to me with his warm smile and easy going manner. I was made to feel welcome at all times.

Dave and my brother Seth served together in the Berkeley Police Department. He was a proud, dedicated officer and a terrific Scout leader. The City of Berkeley, Troop Six, and the Berkeley Police Department are better places because of him. I hope that brings some small comfort to his family in this time of grief.

Respect and kindness were two attributes I admired in Dave. As an Eagle Scout leader he showed strength, knowledge, patience, caring and humor. He needed all of these traits as he helped me keep the 1937 Plymouth running on a regular basis. David had sold er, unloaded this car to me when I was in high school. I loved every minute of it. It would run for 30 minutes at a time before it boiled out all of the water and the car became engulfed in steam. Thank you David for the learning and the good times. Peace be to you and your family.

Iam so sorry and sad to hear of Dave passing.I saw Dave as a outstanding officer and one that B.P.D. should be proud to have as a officer. He & I got to know each other when he became a officer with B.P.D. and I was the store security officer with Andronico Park & Shop,he made many trips to our store's to pick up shoplifters or for other crimes commited in the store.Plus I had a security patrol service in Berkeley working the street, many the times I covered Dave on car stops. May God be with you, daughter and sons.

Dave was a great person. I have many found memories of him during my Boy Scout days with Troop Six. He was one of the few kids you could always count on to do what was right, whom you could trust no matter what. All who know him will dearly miss him.

Dave was one of a few that made me feel very welcome upon my arrival at the Berkeley Police Dept. in 1975. I always loved his effervescent personality, quick & quirky wit, and his positive outlook on life. He always seemed to be 'up', and ready to go. God speed, Car 11.

The first two times I met Dave he was helping me. The First time I was 11, I was injured and Dave came to the rescue and gave me first aid. The Second time I was near drowning and Dave again came to the rescue. Dave was be a model for all men: Actions should speak louder than words. His actions did. I have always looked up to Dave in deepest respect, admiration and in awe. God welcome him.
