Debra Bonovich Obituary

Debra L. Bonovich Oct. 28, 1957 - Dec. 8, 2006 Resident of Knightsen Debbie passed away in Concord on December 8, 2006 as a result of ovarian cancer. A resident of Knightsen, she was 49. Born Debra Lanell Dysart, she was a native of Concord and a graduate of Clayton Valley High School. She had a lifelong interest in horses, receiving her first pony at the age of nine. Debbie spent the next 40 years "horsing around" (as she used to say), eventually becoming a riding instructor. She developed her own course in basic horsemanship and taught hundreds of people of all ages how to ride. She also enjoyed camping and traveling, ranch life, and her three dogs. But the most important thing in Debbie's life was raising her two children. Her sparkling smile and sense of humor endeared her to everyone. She is survived by her husband, Robert Bonovich; children, Riccy and Amanda Ellis; mother and stepfather, Winkee and Jim Venhaus; father and stepmother, Lee and Sally Dysart; brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Lori Dysart; and stepsiblings, Kathleen Turk, Kim Venhaus, Greg Venhaus and Karen Brody. A memorial service will be held at Hosselkus Chapel, 1 Rolph Park Drive, Crockett, CA on Friday, December 15, 2006 at 11 a.m. Burial will take place on Saturday, December 16, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at Shiloh District Cemetery, 7130 Windsor Road, Windsor, CA. Contributions in Debbie's memory may be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, 14 Pennsylvania Plaza, Suite 1400, New York, NY 10122, (800) 873-9569.

Dear Debbie,
I will never forget your beautiful smile and your sense of humor. I only knew you for a little while but you will remain in my heart forever. I remember with a big smile on your face, you saying that you wanted to get out of bed and run through the field across the way and I prayed that one day you would get better and would get to do that. I miss you and I will never forget you ever. Thank you for giving me Riccy, the best thing that has ever happened to me.

DEAR DEBBIE, AS YOU NOW KNOW, THERE IS AN ETERNAL SOUL. IT WAS THERE BEFORE THE BIG BANG AND IT WILL BE THERE WHEN THE UNIVERSE IS DUST. WE ARE ALL PART OF IT AND AS SUCH WE CANNOT CEASE TO BE. YOU DEAR DEBBIE HAVE JOINED WITH THE ETERNAL SOUL AND ARE NOW CONTINUING YOUR JORNEY THROUGH ETERNITY AND EACH OF US IN OUR TURN WILL JOIN YOU. YOU ALWAYS HAD A SMILE AND A HAPPY GREETING FOR YOUR UNCLE CHUCK AND NOW, WHEN I FEEL LOW, I DON'T NEED A STIMULANT. I GO ON AN UPPER JUST REMEMBERING YOUR HAPPY FACE AND REDIANT SMILE

On the day your body died,
The evening sky was dark
with clouds
Of a coming storm.

On the day your body surrendered
it's pain,
We walked in a surreal,
numbing mist of sadness
to the hospital parking lot.

On the day you sighed with your last
breath,
The wind swept up the leaves
around our feet
In whirlwinds, and dried our
tearstained faces.

On the day your body left us,
The jeweled ridge of a mighty,
Golden sunset, sat atop those
blackened, bilious clouds.

And I felt your freed spirit
Soar toward that powerful
brightness
Into His waiting arms.

Debbie ~

There are no words to truly say how much you meant to me, but I know you already know that. We knew each other for 47 years and through it all my best memories are of us pretending we had horses and then finally actually having horses. And my best memory of you is your wonderful and sparkling laughter. When you'd crack a joke it would be your laugh that made it all the more funny.

You were one of the rare people who could make all those around you smile and feel happy, and I'm so glad I was lucky enough to have you in my life.

All my love, forever,

Sharon Erickson
