Dorothy Susman Obituary

Dorothy Olivia Susman, aka "Terry," A Longtime Oakland Resident Died Oct. 23. Terry, who was born April 25, 1932 in London, England, was known for her love of books, classical music, and wildlife, and for never rejecting a stray cat or dog. She came to the United States in 1956 and spent more than 30 years with Pacific Telephone, starting as an operator despite a strong British accent. Later, she was one of the first women to move into the repair side of the phone company. Terry died of cancer in Oakland. She was predeceased by her daughter, Olivia, in 1996. Survivors include another daughter, Tina, of New York; her brother Richard Terezopoulos of New Zealand; niece Mary; and two grand-nephews. She would like to be remembered in the form of donations to: Save Mount Diablo - Friends of Gary, 1901 Olympic Blvd., Suite 220, Walnut Creek, CA 94596 or to any cause devoted to protecting animals.

Tina-

I was so very sorry to hear about the passing of your mother. I never got the chance to to meet her, but was able to get a glimpse into her incredible life through the beautiful tribute that you wrote about her. You have my deepest sympathies!
