Movies is what bonded Eleanor and I, a student at DSPT in the late 1980s. She would always ask me what movie had I seen recently, and if we saw the same movie, we would share our criticisms of it. She loved European movies which touched on the deeper things in life. Babette's Feast, comes to mind. I will always treasure the memory of my chats with her. Rest in peace.

Heartfelt condolences. Eleanor served many roles in Berkeley in the years that she worked at the Dominican School of Philosophy & Theology. She was called "the voice of DSPT", not only because she worked as the receptionist, but essentially because she had an encouraging word for everyone who called or came to "the front desk", be their visitors, students, staff or faculty. I never would have made it through the first years in Berkeley without her help.
