Ermalene V. (Erm) Gomes June 1, 1935 - Mar. 3, 2010 Resident of San Leandro Ermalene passed away peacefully at home on March 3, 2010 with her loved ones close by. Ermalene was born in Crockett, CA to Emily and Abel Ferreira and was raised in Oakland, closely surrounded by her grandparents, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She moved to San Leandro in 1965 where she raised her children, worked and retired with 25 years of service from Friden/Xerox Corporation. She also worked 15 years for the Easter Seals Foundation and the Durrant and Carpenters Bingo. Erm was a special person in many ways, kind, giving, loyal, honest and hard working. She had various passions, cooking, bowling, playing cards, bingo, reading, watching golf and football, and valued spending time with all her family and friends. Ermalene was proceeded in death by her husband of 24 years, Anthony Gomes, Jr.; her son James Gomes; daughter Ermalene Gomes; Parents Abel and Emily Ferreira; loving sister June Sequeira (Frank); and youngest brother Raymond Ferreira. Survived by her very proud and loving family; daughter, Susan Watkins (Jimmy), sons, Anthony Gomes III and Danny Gomes; grandchildren, Jennifer Gomes, Jamie Watkins, Matthew Gomes (Jennifer) and Megan Corro; great-grandchildren, Matison Gomes, Miles Terry and Marcus Gomes; Brother, Steven Ferreira (Pam); sister-in-law, Elaine Rowe; daughter-in-law, Denise Corro, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many very dear friends. She will continue to shine in all those hearts she has touched throughout her life. Family and Friends are invited to Celebrate Erm's life at a Memorial Service on Friday, March 12th at 10:30 am at Jess C. Spencer Mortuary, 21228 Redwood Road, Castro Valley followed by a reception at Dino's Restaurant, Castro Valley. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Kidney Foundation.
