Evelynne Williams Obituary

Evelynne Williams Evelynne Williams passed peacefully on Oct. 20, 2010 after a short illness. She is survived by a husband of 48 years, William Williams, son Gary, daughter Donna Bolden, sisters Anna Ragsdale, Annie Draper, and Essie Brown, brothers, Lee Roy Dickinson and Maceo Dickinson, Great Aunt Pearlie Nelson Dickson, sister-in-law Nedra Dickson, and Maggie Thompson, grand-daughters Nikita, Surayyah, Na ' Dirah, Aseelah, and Jacobo, grandsons, Gary Jr., and Ahmad and a host of other relative and friends. Evelynne was born in Tarry, Arkansas, To Effie Mae and Bishop Tyree Thompson, on Good Friday, April 3, 1931. Evelynne was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers Tyree, Odell and Clarence. Evelynne was baptized in 1942 at the New Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church by Reverent Cleveland Walker. Evelynne had a passion for education and pursued it all her life. She received a B.A. from the University of California in 1971 and a M.P.A. from Golden Gate University a few years later. As a student Evelynne traveled with other students, to counties in Europe and Africa. Evelynne worked in various departments of the U.S. Government in several different cities, retiring in 1900. Funeral services will be held in Tarry, Arkansas, October 30, 2010, at New Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church at 11:oo am. Interment will be at the Macedonia Cemetery. Refreshment will be served after the burial at New Macedonia Church. Service entrusted to the P.K. Miller Mortuary. There will be a wake at the Baker-Williams Funeral Home located at 980-8th St., Oakland, CA, October 26, 2010, from 5 to 7 pm.
