Gregory Boyington Obituary

Gregory Burton Boyington III
December 13, 1965 - May 3, 2014
Resident of Alameda
Gregory Burton Boyington III died on May 3, 2014 in Oakland, CA.
Born on December 13, 1965 in Mountain Home, Idaho, he attended Carlsbad (CA) High School and graduated from Alameda High School.
Owner of Clean Cut Painting, he was an extraordinarily talented craftsman and enjoyed restoring local Victorian homes. His precise, caring work touched the homes and lives of numerous Bay Area residents.
Gregory was a gifted athlete and loved surfing, skateboarding, skiing and kite boarding. He was an original member of the Alameda and Sherman Island kite boarding community. In later years, he was regarded as an elder statesman and local hero of the sport, known for his insistence on having fun safely.
Greg was affectionately known by friends as LMG or Loud Mouth Greg and designed custom kite boards with the LMG moniker. He was known for his boisterous laugh, loud voice, hysterical stories and exuberant spirit. His huge smile and loving bear hugs will be missed.
He is survived by his loving mother and father, Lauretta and Gregory Boyington, Jr, his devoted sisters, Tiffany Bailey and Amanda Boyington, his nieces, Kelsey and Cally Bailey, his nephews, Cody Bailey and Reef Lippa and brothers-in-law, Duffy Bailey and Jeffrey Lippa, as well as his adored canines, Sweetie and Poi. He was predeceased by his son, Frank Russo.
A celebration of Gregory's life will be held at Crown Beach, by the "shack", in Alameda, CA on May 17, at noon.
All whom he touched are welcome. Peace.

Dear Peggory!
Its hard to believe it has been 6 years now. Very few days pass when I havent thought about you. Cally and I created this little garden tribute to you with my Peggory Gremlin. All the creatures are enjoying it...lizards, toads, and gopher snakes are making homes in it. When the flowers are in full bloom then the hummingbirds will love it, too. Thank you for all the precious memories you left us with. Whenever we share a Gregory story, we laugh and are hearts are filled with joy. Watch over Mom and Dad. I find solace in knowing when its time for them to crossover, you will be there to welcome them. We all love and miss you Brother Bear.
Peace Be the Journey!
Forever, Tiffers :)

Dear Brother Bear,
It's hard to believe you've been physically gone for 5 years now. I appreciate how you've been watching over all of us. My question is, how did you know you'd be all around us after you left us that morning with those being your final words to us? I'm awed by what some call coincidences of your spirit being present, I know it now to be the Synchronicity of your spirit still with us :). I took you to Costa Rica and you sparkled like gold when I released your ashes in the beautiful blue water. The feather that floated up in front of me was an awesome sign when I asked if you wanted to stay there. Thank you Peggory...I grew up with you knowing you were special but I was unaware of just how special you are until after you left.
Peace be the Journey Brother Bear!
I love you,
Tiffers :)

My wife and I bought a Victorian in Alameda that Greg and his dad renovated in the 1990's. Since that time, Greg lovingly painted and re-painted our house, and did exquisite carpentry work for us. There has not been a day when we haven't awoke and thought to ourselves, "What a beautiful house! Thank you Greg.".

Greg was a superb craftsman: his carpentry perfect, his painting meticulous. His high standards were exceeded only by his laughter and lust for life.

He was a good humanitarian man and we will most definitely miss his presence.
