A resident of Lafayette for 63 years, survived by his wife of 40 years, Joyce Kamian, his children, Kristin Kamian Bassetti, Harry (Robin) Kamian, Harvey (Tara) Kamian, mother of his children, Mary Kamian, and his grandchildren, Harry Andrew and Anna Catherine.
Harry Kamian was born in Los Angeles, CA and spent most of his childhood in Oakland, CA and attended Berkeley High School. He served in the US Air Force and is a veteran of the Korean War from 1951-1952. A student at Cal (UC) Berkeley, he transferred and graduated from UC San Francisco with a BS degree in Pharmacy in 1956.
Harry and his brother, Harvey, owned and operated Kamian's Pharmacy in Orinda for 32 years. Harry was a member of St. Vartan Armenian Apostolic Church of Oakland and was a long standing member of Triple X (TREX) Fraternity, Oakland chapter, since 1952. He was a lifelong Oakland A's, Raiders and Warriors fan, and could be seen at a game in his suspenders, LL Bean vest and his well-worn A's cap. Harry was also a "frequent flyer" at See's Candies and Casper's Hot Dogs. His many interests included reading and research, fishing and camping in the mountains, but most of all, spending time with and serving as an advisor to his family and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, please consider the following in Harry's honor: St Vartan - Athletic or Sunday school fund, Trex - Oakland chapter, and Alameda Food Bank.
Closed Casket Service Monday June 21 6pm - 8pm at Oakmont Memorial Park & Mortuary in Lafayette. Funeral services Tuesday June 22 11am St. Vartan Armenian Church in Oakland.
