Helen Anderson Obituary
HELEN C. ANDERSON Passed away on November 10, 2004 in Fair Oaks California at the age of 92. Her passing is mourned by many close relatives and friends, including her son, Robert Anderson, his wife, Karen Anderson, their two children, Nicholas and Catherine, all of Fair Oaks, and Helen's sister, Selma Masch of San Mateo, CA. Helen was born in Daly City on June 19, 1912, the second of three children of Fred and Julianne Marie Andersen, and she lived and worked in San Francisco and the peninsula for over 70 years. She was married to George RW Anderson, who preceded her in death in 1968, for 32 years. In 1985, she moved to Davis, California to be close to her two grandchildren and lived in Davis and Fair Oaks for most of the last twenty years. Mrs. Anderson graduated from Jefferson High School in Daly City, and attended the College of San Mateo and San Francisco State College, completing a Master of Arts degree in early childhood education. She was a career civil servant, working for the federal, state, and city throughout Northern California, including 25 years working for the health department in San Francisco. Helen was a beloved relative and friend. She maintained friendships from her earliest childhood that lasted throughout her life, and in each of her social and work settings expanded the number of warm, ongoing connections which were such a personal joy for her. Notable among those were her memberships in three church communities: West Portal Lutheran Church in San Francisco, Hope Lutheran Church in Daly City, and the Lutheran Church of the Incarnation in Davis. Her spirit was deeply nourished by her loving participation in these communities. Helen did not sit still. Her interests included collecting dolls and antiques, buying and selling homes, and volunteering in service to her community. She viewed her professional work as an audiologist as a joyful service to the children of San Francisco, moving daily from school to school to ensure that the City's children were hearing well. She leaves us with the gifts of her love, friendship, and service; we grieve for our loss and we rejoice in our memories of her. A Memorial Service will be held on November 22 at 4 p.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Incarnation, 1701 Russell Blvd, in Davis. Contributions in remembrance of Helen may be sent to the Lutheran Church of the Incarnation at 1701 Russell Boulevard, Davis California, 95616.
