Hugh Maiocco Obituary

Hugh V. Maiocco, M.D.
April 5, 1927 - August 9, 2017
Resident of Brentwood
Ugo Vincenzo Nicola Maiocco was a special person. He was the epitome of love. Love permeated his every existence. A practicing physician in the Brentwood area for over 50 years, he was an equal opportunity person. Everyone was equal in his eyes. He was able to find the good in all people that he happened to encounter. Those of us who were in his direct vision profited the most. We were wife, children, grandchildren, brother, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, brother-in-law, grandson-in-law, cousin, friend, colleague, patient.
We who were touched by him are saddened and elated. Saddened to have him depart this world and elated to have known him. He lived a full ninety years and was working on his 91st year. He was proud of that.
He was a true Renaissance man living in a modern world: he held an individual and a relay world record in track; he was a remarkable physician; he owned a patent in medicine and the copy right of a unique music notation system; he could even rap. He was a lifelong tennis player, runner, and artist. He enjoyed basketball, baseball, opera, theatre, old movies, museums and the outdoors. He found great pleasure coaching track athletes, young and old.
We will all miss him.
A special message to all those wonderful people who happened to have been touched by Hugo. Please raise a toast to him. Clink your glass. Remember your favorite feelings and stories.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider a donation to Hospice of the East Bay3470 Buskirk Avenue, Pleasant Hill, CA 94523 (hospiceeastbay.org) or to your favorite charity. Thank you.

He was my big brother who was always there. I remember when he started Medical school he had a box on bones on his desk to study and I had to dust it. Miss you.

I will always remember Hugo, he was like a second dad to me when I was in high school. I took care of Ruth and Robert, taught them swimming and gymnastics , while Hugo taught me running, tennis and jumping! He was a great neighbor and inspiration. He will be missed ! Thank you. Penny Turner Walch.

Dr. Maiocco was my physician when I first moved to the area. He was beyond delightful. My husband was a fan as well and would love to ask him about the Olympics. What a wonderful gift he was to many people.

Sending peace and comfort to his family.
