James "Jimmy" Cortez, age 51, passed away unexpectedly on February 3rd, 2018. Born on August 19th, 1966, in Houston, Texas, he was a longtime resident of Northern California who will always be remembered as a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend to many. A sports, fishing, race car, and motorcycle fanatic, Jimmy was, above all, defined by his heart to help those in need.
He is survived by his parents, Ron and Peggy Cortez; brothers and sister Tom (Lisa), Nikki (John) Ledbetter, Jack (Courtney), and Casey (Libby); nephews Neil, Blake, Mason, Will, and Grant; and nieces Cassidy, Kennedy, and Lexi.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Jimmy touched are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, February 17th, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Isidore Catholic Church, 440 La Gonda Way, Danville. Reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Knights of Columbus Council 4060 or the American Heart Association.

Wonderful man, he taught me for quite some time before my plans took a quick alter. Three years of getting to know him, I just recently learned about his death via internet.
