James Pickering Obituary

James Pickering
Sept. 21, 1933 - Mar. 23, 2018
Pittsburg
James Carl Lee Pickering left this earth on March 23, to join his wife of 56 years, Jeanette, in their eternal home. Jim leaves behind a daughter, LeAnn Prizznick, two granddaughters, Anna Morgan and Sarah Morgan Carlson, and two grandsons, Aaron and Samuel Prizznick, as well as sisters, Joan, Roberta, Margaret, Lillian and Paula.
Jim was a retired Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy where he served for 22 years, including two tours of duty in Vietnam, and one in Korea. Once retired Jim pursued a love of flying, owning several small engine planes, and working as a flight instructor as well as a corporate pilot, for AD Seeno. He enjoyed fly-in air shows, aerial sightseeing, and spending time with his family. Jim also loved computers and worked for many years as a software beta tester for Microsoft.
A natural caregiver Jim loved taking care of his grandchildren, until he shifted his time and energy into caring for his beloved wife, Jeanette for the last several years of her life.
At Jim's request, there will be no funeral service, but rather a celebration of life for his family and friends to be held at a later date. The family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation to his neighbors the Zaldanas and the McNamars who have been sources of constant support and help in his later years.

I have known Jim for near 20 years as an MSMVP including the Summits in Redmond and through the DTS group. I have no doubt that prior to our meeting he was always helping people just as he has so well for those having computer issues since. Solid and stable as they come, I will miss him a great deal.

When I was nearing 70 and feeling old - and Jim was 72 - he assured me that, "The best is yet to come." He was right. I'll miss him. All of us past MVPs - and especially those in DTS - will miss Jim.
