Stew and I began our careers at RRD at about the same time - Stew on the West Coast and me on the East Coast. Although it is over 33 years ago I remember our introduction to each other like it was yesterday. He was bigger than life with a smile and a twinkle in his eye - the Stew look - that is permanently engrained in my mind's eye. The melodious voice, the stately mannerism as he said my name "Charles glad to meet you". Our careers crossed paths for a number of years before we had the opportunity to work together. We worked hard, played hard and had a lot of fun doing both.

We both left RRD in the late 90's and for no other reason other than time and distance we were out of touch for 10 years. Like all of Stews minions when Zucc told us that our friend and colleague was ill we didn't hesitate to be back in touch with him. I was fortunate enough to speak to Stew twice before he left us and it was as if no time had passed between us - we just picked up as we had left off 10 years earlier. Stew was his usual humoreus self, no self pity, smooth and graceful, just two old friends talking about the good old days.

My condolences to the Stewart family and all those that knew and loved Stew - he will be missed by all of us.

We are very sorry for the loss of "The Stew Man", a terrific mentor and friend who told me on our first day working together, 28 years ago, you have a choice going forward, you can enjoy success in your business or with your family, you need to choose. 28 years later I am happy to say I enjoyed terrific success in business and more importantly a great marriage and partnership! I was very glad I had the chance to visit with him recently him and let him know how important he was to me. Both with my success in both business & family!

Our prayers and good thoughts are with you M and your family. I will be with you on Saturday.

I first met Stew when I began my career with RRD. Immediately, he became one of my most favorite
"characters." I will never forget his unique style and sense of humor.
My prayers are with his family. I will always treasure my fond memories of Stew.

Stew, what a wonderful, caring friend we have all lost.
When we first met I could immediately tell that you were skeptical about whether our relationship had any potential to grow. This was a major concern to me because I was planning to relocate to the Bay Area with my wife to work for you at RR Donnelley.

That stern glare that you frequently utilized to convey your displeasure was terribly effective until I learned to use humor and passion to earn your trust and support.

Your investment in guiding, coaching and mentoring me was a rewarding journey that led to a deep and caring relationship that lasted for almost 25 years. As a manager, you were very demanding but that is because you had an ability to see potential in others that they may not have realized themself. You developed a reputation for finding and developing the future leaders of Donnelley which many of us will never forget and will always be grateful for.

I will miss your laugh, your penetrating questions and your bear hugs. However, I will think of you often in the days and years ahead as I strive to carry on your legacy of looking for the potential in people and invest in developing and mentoring them just as you did for me.
