Dear Wade, Barbara and Katie, I am thinking of you and praying for you as you face the 1 year anniversary of Joanne's separation from this earth to her celebration of her presence with the Lord. I confidently share with myself and now with you that Joanne and my mother are totally enjoying their time and presence with the Lord. They have no desire to return to their old bodies and their diseases. They rejoice in their new bodies and all the joy and celebrations that take place in heave, "I can only imagine.".

Your precious wife and mother was one of the sweetest, kindness woman. What a blessing you have to call her beloved wife and loving mother. Embrase all those wonderful memories and I know you have a lot of wonderful memories..

Love and hugs,
Darcie

My heart is very thankful that one year ago I was there with you in CA. Little did I realize when Joanne called earlier in the week how important that trip would become for me. I've cried many more times than I expected I would, in missing Joanne this year. I thought of you Wade, Katie, Barbarba & family & prayerd for all of you often. The pain of death is felt most by those who dearly loved Joanne. The pain of grief does not go away easily. I've learned in my own loss of Ken in 2001 that the grief becomes less but it hasn't gone away. The joy that our families bring to us does not earse because they leave us on this earth. Those great memories have become my joys during this time. I loved when Joanne wanted me there for the graduations & anniversary & being her care giver following the bone marrow transplant. Joanne was a planner & it was my pleasure that now has become a joy to help her honor her family in their accomplishments. These memories are so precious to me. The weeks following the BMT were very serious for me. I'm not a nurse but Joanne made that easy for me. She allowed me to sit at her feet & massage them with oil & love. We shared scripture & prayed. I saw a woman who trusted God in all things. I found this scripture says it the best. Psa 62:1,2 My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation;he is my fortress, I will never be shaken. Joanne lived this.
A year has passed & our memories are more filled with JOY & may our lives be lived in the way Joanne showed us how to live but also how to die. With JOY in her heart as she knew & lived Jesus love. Her last words were not about Joanne but telling us how much she loved us. Joanne knew servanthood & lived it to the very end. Blessings to Wade, Katie, Barbara, Chuck, Karis & Hope. Missing Joanne is normal but living her example will strengthen your lives & encourage others to see Jesus at work in this world. Love & Prayers, (Sis),Shirley Tschetter

Wade,
Another message from a former neighbor. I never met Joanne, but from what I have read I realize you were blest with a wonderful life companion Now you and your girls must carry on, with God's help.
Fond memories of mine are Sunday afternoons at the Walters home and your fathers sense of humor, and good times with Shirley.

Joanne has been such an inspiration to many, many people! She ran her race with endurance, grace and dignity. I met Joanne through her sister Dianne. She was always kind and gentle when we saw each other and showed great concern for others who were suffering. Wade, Barbara, Katie, Sue, Dianne and Ron will all be in our thoughts and prayers.

Wade, though I don't recall meeting you or your lovely Joanne, I feel I got to know you through conversations with Shirley. Joanne has been in my prayers for quite some time and now I pray for healing, comfort and grace for your family. My husband lost his battle to cancer about a year and a half ago and I know the joy you feel that Joanne is with her Savior but, I also know the emptiness Joanne's passing leaves. I hope that your faith and the lovely memories and support of your family and friends help you through this tremendous loss.

I spoke with my Mom (who is 95 and has some health issues right now) about you, Joanne and your family. She remembers you from our farm days near Doland. She spoke with me about what great parents you had in Josh and Barbara. She told me she remembers what a great guy and conversationalist your Dad was! Our memories are a wonderful gift and a gift from God to help us keep all our treasured family alive!

Love and prayers,

My dear cousin Wade and family, I'm so sorry about Joanne but, like you say she is not suffering anymore. I think of you so much and each day I pray to the Lord to comfort you. I have very good memories of Joanne. She had a very strong faith and she was always praising the Lord. Your cousin, Sharla Rusk (Eden Prairie, MN)

Joanne had the sweetest nature with a selflessness toward others that left an unforgettable impact on everyone who knew her.
She had an incredibly strong faith in God that was a powerful testimony through all the years she battled her illness.
I will miss her and often remember the many wonderful memories we all had as a family together.

With love,
Her brother Ron

Joanne's Sister, Susan

It is a comfort to know Joanne is with our Lord and Saviour. It made the news of her Homegoing easier to bear, as we know that she is done with chemo treamtments and needle pokes. Joanne was like our mother and never once complained through the years of pain and suffereing! She trusted in our Heavenly Father to the very end. Now, she has joined our parents and other loved ones. It's great to know, we'll all be together again someday in Glory!

Wade and family, our prayers have been continually with you in recent weeks. Our dad once said at a service: God is too wise to make a mistake and too merciful to be cruel. Joanne has fought a good battle and victory is her's today.

October 23, 2009

I wish to extend my deepest sympathies to each of Joanne's family members at this time of loss. May you be comforted in the knowledge that she is now at peace in the presence of her dear Lord and Savior. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Sincerely, Wendy Apthorp (Chatham, Ontario).

Wade, Your South Dakota Friends offer our condolences. I remember you as one of our Ebenezer youth and have not forgotten the special person you have always been. It is difficult to lose someone, especially at a young age. Your own father comes to mind as he was one of my favorites. Our prayers are with you - our words are always inadequate. Harvey Wollman
