John H. DeMoulin Jan. 4, 1930 - Jan. 10, 2004 Beloved father, grandfather, and brother. John died on January 10, 2004 in Walnut Creek, California. He is survived by his children Aileen DeMoulin Claire of Benicia, CA, John H. DeMoulin, Jr. of Portland, OR, William DeMoulin (Debee) of Tracy, CA, Ann Birza (Judson) of Lake St. Louis, MO, Elizabeth Huffer (Erwin) of Olympia, WA, and Alexandra Tilp (Rick) of Vancouver, WA; his sister Gladys Dirner of Lake Elsinor, his brother Robert of Phoenix, AZ; and his sweetheart Rose Murray of Walnut Creek. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 45 years, Pamela, and his infant daughter Mary Ann. He was born in Los Angeles, CA, the seventh of eight children. At age 18 he enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Japan, where he served as a member of General MacArthur's Honor Guard. While there he met and married Pamela Ward, a member of the Women's Army Corps she was General MacArthur's secretary. Following his service in Japan, John completed officer candidate school and served as an officer at Fort Benning, Georgia. He held the rank of Lieutenant when he received his honorable discharge and returned to civilian life. He began his career in the insurance industry as a claims adjuster for Safeco Insurance Company in Seattle. He later held various claims positions with United Pacific Insurance Company. in 1976, John joined the Swiss Reinsurance Group in San Francisco, where he spent the remainder of his career until retiring in 1992, at which time he held the position of Vice President, Western Regional Claims Manager. John was a Past President of the Pacific Claim Executives Association. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him and loved him. He was a wonderful man, an officer and a gentleman. At his request, no services will be held. A memorial celebration honoring his life will be held for family and friends at 12:00 pm on Thursday, January 15, at Blakes Boundary Oak, 3800 Valley Vista Road, Walnut Creek, CA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Youth Home Auxiliary, P.O. Box 5759, Walnut Creek, CA 94596.
