John Longaker Obituary

John Curtis Longaker FormerResident of Danville At the young age of 68, John finally lost his three-year battle with leukemia. On Monday, May 19th, he passed away at the City of Hope in the Los Angeles area with his wife and three children at his side. To many, he was known as a softball coach, pigeon flyer, fisherman, bowling partner and a great friend and inspiration. To his children he was all these things and more wrapped up simply as "Dad." To his wife of 48 years, he was the love of her life. John grew up in Albany and Danville in Northern California although he spent most of his adult life living in Southern California before taking an early retirement from Shell Oil Co. and moving to Bend, Oregon where he and his wife have resided for the past twelve years. John leaves behind two sisters, Joyce Hamblin of Bend, Oregon, and Gail Proctor of Danville, California; his wife, Suzy; three children, Lana, Lisa and Brian; and four grandchildren, Katelyn, Alexis, Kyle and Finn; with his fifth grandchild, Brooklyn Grace, presenting herself to the world just days after he passed. He leaves behind a void that will not be filled. Donations are appreciated to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at 9320 SW Barbur Blvd., Suite 140, Portland, OR 97219 (503) 245-9866, lls.org.
