John Arthur Marr

John Arthur Marr June 27, 1960~June 19, 2009 Resident of Walnut Creek John was born on June 27, 1960 in Teaneck, NJ. He grew up in Princeton and Little Silver, NJ. He graduated from Red Bank Regional High School in 1978, Lafayette College with a BS in Chemical Engineering in 1982, New York Institute of Technology with an MS in Computer Science in 1984, and the University of Houston with an MS in Chemical Engineering in 2000. His work history includes Atlantic Simulation, DMC, US Army at Fort Huachuca, Arizona, Aspen Technology, and ConocoPhillips as a Senior Advanced Process Controls Engineer. He was the current Treasurer for the AIChE Northern California Section. John lived and worked all over the world, including Holland; Germany; Cambridge, England; Durban, South Africa; St. Croix, US Virgin Islands; Japan and Hong Kong; Tucson, Arizona; Houston, Texas; Camarillo, Del Mar, and Walnut Creek, California. John also traveled to many other places including Australia and all across the USA. He settled in Walnut Creek, CA in 2006, finally marrying in July of 2007. He is survived by his wife, Mary; his parents, George & Wilma Marr; his sisters, Betsy Finney (husband Greg), Susan Marr, and Amy Collins (husband Greg); and four nephews, Jack & Matthew Finney and Tim & Joe Collins. Throughout his life he enjoyed baseball, bicycling, soccer, tennis, traveling, photography, billiards, skiing, fishing, reading the newspaper, doing crossword puzzles, walking, great music, fine dining and wine, horseback riding, and so much more.
