We miss you very much Poppie on this, your 88th birthday. We think of you everyday and it is still had to believe you are not still here with us. Danny still grabs the phone now and again to call you to ask you a question, or tell you about his day... Then stops, looks at the phone and puts it back down. I know you know how loved you were and always will be..
Miss you... Gayle

To All The Scalise Family
I am so sorry and sad to hear of Johnny's passing. You probably don't remember me, my name is Celeste Lusher (it was Caruso until I got married) but our families are related, and years ago when everyone used to 'get together' for parties or picnics or no reason at all I can remember my dad, (Phil Caruso) and Johnny like two peas in a pod.....They loved to drink a little something, play cards, sing and of course look really sharp if they went out. I have some great memories of your family as well as mine......I hope your most precious memories comfort you when you're sad and missing Johnny.

I will miss my friend. His sense of humor, his big hugs and that devilish laugh. He made my day every time I saw him. I am honored and blessed to have known John. (I loved the way he enjoyed being around young and old and was so respected and loved by all.) He truly was one in a million. His memory will live on in all of us. Christy Dallimonti

Joe,
I don't know if you remember me (retired OPD), but I've been in your shop on numerous occasions. You went to High School with my Mom (Dolores Farias Frazier). I just wanted to reach out to you and offer my deepest sympathies regarding the loss of your brother. Even though I never had the pleasure of meeting him, I'm sure he was a fine man...just as you are. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

It was such a privilege to know Poppie and he reminded us so much of our Grandfather, Phil, who was greatly loved. Hello Godfather,
I'm glad you are no longer in pain and suffering. Now it's our turn to suffer without you.
Some of my favorite memories of you would be visiting you and my Godmother at your house. As you may remember, I was baptized late and my mother asked me who I wanted as God parents. It made perfect sense to me to pick Aunt Bernice and Uncle Johnny. After all, I had spent so many hours in your house with my family, just visiting, enjoying each others company telling stories, and eating!
In the early years, I went with my grandparents, then later I took my grandmother to "visit my brother Johnny". You and my grandmother were always very close and after my grandfather died, I thought of you more like my grandfather too, not just my great uncle or Godfather.
More recently, Julie and I visited with you after we picked berries in your backyard (or orchard as you called it).
I'm glad we finally made it to Dallimonti's for Karaoke. Do you remember? It was right after your birthday, two years ago. My father and sister also went. Your granddaughter Melanie who took you, (makes me sing), so I sang 'Grandpa' for you both. All of your grandchildren love you so much. I will never forget your proud smiling face in the audience.
I'm sorry I couldn't sing at your memorial service, but it would be too painful.
Godfather, thank you for all of the happy memories.......you will be missed!
I love you...

Vince,
Ron & I were so sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. We loved to shoot the breeze with him when he would come down to Todos Santos Park for the THursday night musice & market...and my! what a dapper dresser he was!!!
We live in Pleasant Hill and I remember seeing him driving that big-ole car around the town.
We hope all the wonderful memories surround you and your siblings at this time....and it sounds like your Dad had much laughter and love in his life.
Take Care...we hope to see you soon on Thursday night in the park,
Ron and Michele Dudley

Uncle Johnny, so so many great memories throught the years. All the vacations, visits, parties, lots of laughter and fun. I will never forget the first time that I drove our Motorhome to Tahoe and you rode with me because I was scared. White knuckles all the way but we talked and laughed all the way and got there in one piece. So many memories to last a lifetime. We love you and will miss you but know that you are at peace with God, Aunt Bernice and all of your other family and friends that have passed before you. May God bless you and keep you safe in his arms. Love, your Niece and Nephew Sherry and Bob Fabela
