Leona Sapunar Obituary

LEONA RACHLIE SAPUNAR Age 95, of McMinnville, OR, died Saturday, December 20, 2003 at Alterra Wynwood in McMinnville, OR. Daughter of Daniel and Rosa Lawson Nies was born in NY, NY on August 25, 1908. She was raised and schooled in St. Joseph, MO. She moved to Sacramento, CA at age 18. She married Joseph M. Sapunar on June 27, 1927 in Sacramento, CA. They were married for 64 years until Mr. Sapunar's death in August of 1993. They lived in San Mateo, CA until 1980. Leona has lived in McMinnville, for nearly 3 years after moving from CA. She was a homemaker all her life. She loved animals and cared for several pet dogs through her life. She was a deeply religious person who avidly searched the Bible scripture for deeper truth. She is survived by her Sons, Jon Sapunar of Yellow Spring, OH and Jay Sapunar of McMinnville, OR, 3 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren and a Half-Brother Roy Wall, of Florida. Arrangements are being handled by Macy & Son Funeral Directors, 135 N. Evans, McMinnville, OR. Funeral service will be at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery, Graveside at 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 23, 2003, Pastor Ron Mulles officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in McMinnville, OR.
