Lewis Mace Obituary

Lewis Francis Mace Sr. Feb. 26, 1935 - June 24, 2006 Resident of Danville Passed away peacefully at the Northwest Medical Hospital in Tucson, AZ with his family by his side. Lew was born in Pittsburgh PA., moved to California in his early 20's and was a long time resident Danville. Lew was a dedicated police sergeant with the Oakland Police Force for 25 years before retiring as the Chief of Intelligence. He loved being a police officer and all the friendships he made lasted throughout his lifetime. Lew will be missed by all that knew him but none as deeply as his loving wife Judy, daughters, Stephanie Mace Gothberg, Shannon Mace Granno, and his son Lewis Mace II, son-in-laws, Brad and Keith, and daughter-in-law Dena. His smile and bear hugs will be missed by all of his six granddaughters, Sami,Kylie,Alyssa,Sarah,Rachel, and Noelle. He leaves behind extended family, Dan, Lori, Brett and Matthew Luch - Michael, Michele, Colin and Hannah Hilton and Maurine Hendricks. Lew will be remembered by his sister Irene Stiger, best friend Tom Malone and ex-wife Linda Mace. Lew was an avid an excellent golfer, your best friend, and amazing father, grandfather, brother and husband. He leaves with us cherished memories of his smiling face, twinkling eyes, intoxicating sense of humor, and he will be missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Dad, you were our shining star, our hero and we love you. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial Mass on Thursday, July 13th at St. Isidore's Church, 440 La Gonda Way, Danville, at 10:30 a.m. A reception will follow at his daughter Stephanie's home in Alamo. Donations can be made to the March of Dimes in memory of his grandson, Lewis F. Mace III.
