Louise Bridgewater Obituary

Louise Bridgewater Jul. 28, 1920 - Feb. 28, 2011 Of San Leandro Dearly beloved wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Friend. Born July 28, 1920 to Claude and Helen McIntyre in Kansas City, MO. She met Ernie when she was 14 years old and they married four years later. Thus began a great love affair that lasted until his death in 2003. During their life together they lived in Kansas City and Guam before settling in San Leandro for 50 years. As members of the First United Methodist Church they served as Sunday school teachers for the Methodist Youth Fellowship. They enjoyed extensive traveling both for business as well as pleasure, especially cruising. In 1988 they were honored as the Queen and King of the San Leandro Cherry Festival. Louise was also an active member of the American Red Cross as a "Grey Lady" in both Guam and Oaknoll Naval Hospital. She was an accomplished seamstress and also was well know for her beautiful cross stitch creations that her family will cherish always. Louise was the beloved wife of the late Ernest Bridgewater. She was the adored mother of Patricia and Leon Huffman and Kathleen and Roland Mailhot. She was the loving grandmother of Donna and Jeff Hill, Debra and Troy Sparks, Keith and Margaret Elkins and Kendra and Chris Magnuson. She was cherished by her great grandchildren Nicole and Justin Hill, Tyler Sparks, Amanda and Olivia Elkins, and Jonas and Ashlynn Magnuson. Our family is especially greatful for the loving care given to our mother by the wonderful ladies at Sunflower Manor as well as Hope Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Louise's memory to Hope Hospice of Dublin, Ca. Friends are invited to attend services Friday 03/04/2011 at 7:00 P.M. at Santos-Robinson Mortuary 160 Estudillo Ave. San Leandro. Visitation begins Friday Noon to 8:30 P.M.
