LUCIA ELIZEBETH BRIGHT

Lucia (Lucy) Elizebeth Bright Sunrise- October 25, 1925 Sunset- January 13, 2013 Resident of Concord, Ca Lucia passed peacefully in her sleep on January 13th in her home of 57 years. She was the last survivor of 5 siblings born to Donato and Maria Scudieri of Riverdale, N.Y. She married the love of her life, William "Bill" Joseph Bright of St. Louis Mo. during World War II. and began a family in New York. She and William then moved to St. Louis after the war. They moved to California in 1949, settling first in Sacramento, then Richmond and finally Concord in 1955. Lucia enjoyed a career with Pacific Bell Telephone as a service representative and later found a more fulfilling occupation with the Mount Diablo School District as a library assistant where she especially enjoyed working with young children. She was devoted to her Queen of All Saints Catholic Church parish of 57 years and gave generously to the cause of church restoration. She was a proud member of the Sons of Italy. She held high esteem for her cultural heritage and enthusiastically celebrated all things "Italian". She also enjoyed camping and trout fishing with husband Bill and together they taught both of their sons those two skills and instilled in them a lifelong appreciation for the wonders of "God's Country". Later in their retirement years, they enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. They also enjoyed Reno trips together and Lucia later looked forward to an adventure or two, to Cache Creek. Lucia was predeceased by Bill, her husband of 53 years. She is survived by sons William (Sherry) Brightof Meadow Vista, Ca, Donald (Joette) Bright, and daughter Patricia (Val) Castro of Antioch Ca., 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Lucia had many friends but with special recognition to Lyn Taloroc (children Janeen and Janelle) and to Ken Savikas, who were constant companions in her later years. A funeral liturgy will be held in the chapel at Holy Cross Cemetery, 2200 East 18th St. in Antioch, on Jan. 19th 2013 at 11:00 am preceded by visitation at 10:30 am. Donations in her memory are welcomed to Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Concord or to your selected charity.
