Madeline Barron Obituary

Madeline Barron
February 6, 1922 - January 10, 2013
Resident of Castro Valley
Madeline Lois Barron died on January 10, 2013. Born February 6, 1922 in Clark's Harbour, Nova Scotia, Canada, she graduated from nursing school in Montreal, then served nearly three years in the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps. She served in Canada, England, and Germany, and was in London when the buzz bombs and V-2s were falling. Following the war, she attended the University of British Columbia, where she met Jack, her future husband. They came to San Francisco where they were married, in Old First Presbyterian Church. She worked as a pubic health nurse, and a school nurse in the Oakland school system.
Madeline lived an active life, jogging regularly with Jack into their 80s. She loved the outdoors, and made many trips with her husband and family camping, backpacking, and trailering. She had a long, full, eventful life.
Madeline is survived by her sons Robert and David and David's wife Jean, and her grandchildren Scott and Jacki. She was a loving wife and mother, who adored her grandchildren, and was always there for her family. She was a devout Christian, and had many cherished friends at her church. We will miss her deeply.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on February 1, 2013, at the First Hayward Presbyterian Church, in Castro Valley. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Heart Association or the general fund of that Church.
