Margaret McGuire Obituary
MARGARET ANITA "PEGGY" McGUIRE July 12, 1915 ~ August 12, 2004 Our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother has, left her loving family to join the love of her life, her husband of 46 years, Jim. Now united in Heaven together forever. Leaving behind her children: Barbara, Sharon, Michael and Loretta. She will be terribly missed by her grandchildren: Kathleen, Lynn, David, Andrea, Matthew, Mary Ellen, Jim, John M., Daniel, John B. and Brittany. Missing the opportunity to see her great grandchildren's smiling faces: Holden, Madeline, Ryanne and Michael. During her lifetime, she was the past president of Y.L.I. (Young Ladies Institute) and a past officer of the Union City Woman's club. Peggy was also very active within her church community. Her mark has been left at St. Louis Bertrand's Church, St. Paschal Baylon's Church as well as Bishop O'Dowd High School during her many years residing in Oakland. Mom had a deep appreciation and devotion to the Catholic Church and especially to the Virgin Mary. Until her health failed, she enjoyed attending daily mass. Hey mom, thanks for the memories of sewing us warm Christmas pajamas; teaching us how to crochet; being a knowledgeable outdoors woman and camping at Lake Tahoe; cooking spaghetti in a frying pan; adventuring on a safari in Africa; cooking turkey early; inviting the kids and grandkids to partake in a cruise to share the world with us; runny delicious apricot jam; baking cakes for church fundraising events; teaching the grandchildren "gambling"; double ice-cream; box wine; grapefruit with sugar; for praying the Rosary at the start and end of every vacation trip; for being 'painfully' PROUD to be IRISH. Thank you for those things and so very much more. Please say "Hi" to Dad/Grandpa and pitch a tent for us. Family and friends are invited to attend Mass on Monday, August 16th at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Church, 3433 Somerset Ave., Castro Valley. Interment will follow Tuesday, August 17th for immediate family. In lieu of flowers, donations to your local Hospice would be appreciated. Jess C. Spencer Mortuary, Inc And Crematory 510-581-9133
