Martha Frances Castleman, age 90, died on Sunday, April 30th peacefully in her home.
Martha was born to Robert Carroll and Leatha Esther (née Ford) Pennington in Mt.Vernon, MO on May 12, 1926. Martha loved making friends, telling jokes, and most of all, talking about her three sons. She is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Earl Castleman, and son, Randal Lynn Castleman.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Ken and Ellen Castleman of Walnut Creek, Calif., Rob and Linda Castleman of Yuba City, Calif., and Cornelia Locher of White Plains, NY. She is also survived by her grandchildren Kevin, Sean, Matthew, Amanda, Laura, and Andrew, and many more family and friends.
Services for Martha will be held Thursday, May 4 at 11 AM at the Church of the Nazarene, 19230 Lake Chabot Rd., Castro Valley. Martha will be laid to rest at Irvington Memorial Cemetery, 41001 Chapel Way, Fremont.

What a shock to see Martha's name like this. I go way back with her - she took care of me as a child while my parents worked down the street at Vend-it. I remember playing with Robbie a lot, who was the closest one to my age at that time. We played a lot of hide and seek, and she would let us walk to Thriftway down at the corner to buy comic books. What a lovely and caring person she was. I'm so sorry to hear of her passing. My best to the family.

Martha's hugs, smiles, stories of her life & of her beautiful family I will cherish in my memories of such a precious lady. We both shared a common bond as we had both lost children & talked about them together & our grief as mothers. I was so very privileged to have met her in this lifetime. She also was such a firecracker with quite a sense of humor.
My deepest sympathy & prayers are with all of her family & dear friends.

Martha was a wonderful person who took care of my children and who they referred to as grandma. She loved everyone and always had a kind word or a joke to share.
