Nancy McCrea-Hendrick Obituary

Nancy (Longaker) McCrea-Hendrick
Feb. 10, 1943 - Jan. 31, 2014
Resident of Chico
Nancy was born in Berkeley to Malcolm and Marcia Scobey Longaker. From the third grade on she grew up in Alameda where she graduated from Alameda High School in 1960 as an outstanding student. In 1964 she earned a BA in French from the University of California. She first married York Fischer, and in 1980 Donald McCrea-Hendrick, with whom she had a son, Madison (Maddy). For many years she and her family lived in Marin County, but about 2001 they moved to Chico where Maddy attended school. Throughout her adult life she pursued a career as a paralegal. Nancy read every day and enjoyed attending book and poetry clubs. She loved to cook, and she often wore her favorite color, purple.
Nancy is survived by her husband Don and son Maddy, as well as her sister Susan Ingalls and her husband Joe, nieces Margaret (Wade) Krauss and Elizabeth (Steve) Caldwell, four grandchildren in South Carolina and two in Arizona, as well as cousins in the bay area. She welcomed new friends, and once she made friends she worked to keep them. Many were longstanding including, Carol, Dianne, Dee Dee, Denise, Ginger, Judy, and many others who will also miss her.
Services were held in Chico on February 8, and inurnment was on what would have been her 71st birthday at Newcastle Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the University of California San Francisco Foundation, Helene Jaffe Ovarian Cancer Fund, POB 45349, San Francisco 94145.

I am so sorry to here about nancy !! She was always so kind to me i used to take care of maddy when he was a baby !! My thoughts are with the family
